Description
Mendec Cranio is the acrylic resin developed for use in cranioplasty operations. It is a safe and reliable solution for the repair of neurosurgical holes, craniotomy cuts and other cranial defects. The resin is easily modeled and perfectly adapts to the cranial defect. Once the resin has hardened it can be drilled and milled, and it can also be prepared for fixation with plates and screws or with sutures. The barium sulfate present in the formulation makes the resin radiopaque and therefore perfectly visible on X-rays.
Advantages
Modeling: shortly after the mixing phase Mendec Cranio reaches an excellent state of modeling which allows prolonged surgical manipulation. Mendec Cranio in fact remains modelable for a long time, allowing sufficient time for the reconstruction of the bone defect. After hardening, the resin can be drilled and milled, and it can also be prepared for fixation with plates and screws or with sutures.
Perfect reconstruction: thanks to its mouldability Mendec Cranio is able to reconstruct the cranial defect to perfection, reaching excellent levels also from an aesthetic point of view. Its consistency is such as to maintain the given shape even before the hardening phase, therefore the exothermic polymerization must take place on an external support, far from the meninges.
Safety: PMMA is a biocompatible material that guarantees excellent mechanical properties: it is elastic, resistant and light. PMMA is a material widely used in clinical practice, and its safety has been widely demonstrated.
Reduced Toxicity: thanks to our special production process Mendec Cranio requires a reduced quantity of liquid (MMA), consequently the toxic component is also reduced and the polymerization temperature decreases.
